The South of Market is seen as a center for tech and tourism in San Francisco, but the filmmakers of “Sa Amin” invite you to see the neighborhood through the eyes of four Filipinas who have made it their home. The film looks past the office towers and tourist attractions to the neighborhood that is home to Filipino families and their support network of nonprofits and cultural institutions. For over 100 years, the area has been an important landing place for Filipino immigrants, who have fought to stay in the neighborhood, despite urban renewal demolishing entire city blocks and real estate speculation driving displacement. Rare archival footage, some never seen by the public, and interviews with community stalwarts, are woven into the stories of present-day, everyday heroines, Teresa Dulalas, Tina Alejo, Janine LaCap, and Mary Ann Masagca.
